Leading With Hate

I really wish there wasn't so much ugly rhetoric and vitriol this campaign season. :/ I knew it was going to be bad....but it's been worse. Much worse. It has gotten so violent, hateful, and offensive that it has affected my health. I am literally sick of it. 😞

The hate I see from all sides on a daily basis is maddening. It's deeply frustrating to see harsh, accusation-filled diatribes sprouting up where reasoned, rational discussions would have been so helpful.
We have a large segment of this nation with such antipathy and loathing for Hillary Clinton that they will vote for Donald Trump, who is so glaringly destructive and irrational and all-around BAD for our nation...for this world. They refuse to see his overabundance of flaws because they cannot see past their deep-seated hate for Hillary. "Anyone but Hillary" is their mantra...and that's a scary thing. 😟

I truly wish people voting this way could understand that leading with your hate is the most destructive thing you can do. It keeps them blind to the serious red flags of the candidate they support out of desperation. Desperation that stems from the fact that they have so much hate for HC. It's the most unhealthy path they could take.

It is no secret how much I despise Trump. He is a liar, a hypocrite, and a mean, compassion-less bully. I think he is one of the most appalling humans on this planet. But my feelings toward him aren't guiding my choice in this election. If I didn't honestly think Hillary would do a good job as our president, I would not vote for her. But I've been around the last few decades and I've been paying attention. I've watched her being maligned all through her years of public service by the Republicans who hold disdain for her. It's ridiculous! And it makes it hard for people to know what's true and what's not about her record. Compounding the problem is that most people don't take the time to look at her actual record...they just fall in flow with the hateful accusations stated as fact on hundreds of super-partisan websites....where spreading zero facts and all spin/lies is job one. 😣

Back to my main point...I wish we could have less hate and vitriol...and wild accusations flying around in this historic election year. But I won't be holding my breath. This year will go down in the annals of history as the beginning of the end....or the year we narrowly escaped. Either way, the future is not looking good.💀 No matter who wins, the opposition has been whipped into such a frenzy that we will most assuredly see a continuation of the violence and hatred...but taken to dangerous new levels: riots...assassination attempts...anti-government insurgence....it's too frightening to imagine all the possibilities. 😱

Despite the record-smashing bitterness and spectacle of this campaign season...I'm afraid the worst is yet to come. Can we get it together and act like adults with at least a modicum of respect for our neighbors and our country's election process before it's too late?

I guess we'll see...
